A Russian River tradition for nearly a century, Johnson’s Beach is a favorite summer spot for Sonoma County locals and visitors alike. Sunning, swimming and floating at our Guerneville beach is as much a Sonoma County pastime as wine tasting and strolling through the redwoods.
Located ninety minutes north of the Bay Area in the charming and eclectic town of Guerneville, this classic summer getaway sits in the heart of the Russian River Valley and provides the quintessential summertime river experience.
Return to simpler pleasures at our Russian River campground and recharge in a rustic setting surrounded by majestic redwoods. Johnson's Beach offers a range of lodging for a comfortable stay, with some of the most sought-after Guerneville accommodations, including vintage cabins from the 1920s, and an urban campground, complete with BBQ area and laundry facilities.
Nothing feels more like summer than spending time with family and friends on a beautiful Russian River beach, lounging comfortably with a cold drink in hand, or floating on the water soaking up the sunshine. Johnson's Beach offers everything you need for a great day, including rentals of canoes, kayaks, beach chairs, and umbrellas.
Just a short 90-minute drive from the Bay Area, to get to our Guerneville beach, head north on Highway 101 to the north end of Santa Rosa. Take Exit 494, the River Road/Guerneville/Russian River Resort Area exit. Turn left onto River Road and travel 15 miles to Guerneville. Go through the two stoplights in town then turn left onto Church Street. To get to the beach, continue straight ahead on Church. To get to the lodge, cabins and campground, turn left on First Street. The driveway is about one half block down First Street on the right.
