For nearly 100 years, Johnson’s Beach has been a Guerneville summer tradition whose beauty, amenities, and hospitality make it a favorite destination for locals and visitors alike. With its spacious stretch of pebble beach and the jagged blue skyline of majestic redwoods, it is the ideal spot for camping, lounging, and playing along with the cool current of the Russian River.
Johnson’s fun, family-friendly beach has something for everyone. The roped-off kiddie pond allows toddlers and beginning swimmers to enjoy the river safely, and the summer dam provides deeper waters for more adventurous swimmers. For the ultimate in kicking back or playing on the water, don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy Russian River tubing! Inner tubes are our biggest crowd-pleasers and can be rented for a whole day of floating, spinning, and splashing.
We also rent boats for extra river fun and exploration, plus umbrellas and beach chairs so you can recline in shaded comfort. Our snack bar serves affordable traditional summer favorites like burgers, hot dogs, and ice cream. And you can top off your lunch with a frosty cold beer or chilled glass of wine from our Boathouse while kicking back in a beach chair and listening to oldies streaming from the speakers.
There is no charge for admission. Parking is available, $7/car.
The Parks and Recreation boat launch is accessible during business hours (check our homepage for our business hours as they change throughout the season).
Whether planning a day of water play or a weeklong retreat, Johnson’s Beach is the ideal setting for river goers to settle in, relax and attain their summer bliss.
